SEMINAR ON PHONETICS AT KIRPAL SAGAR ACADEMY
Col. J.M.S Hatter, a renowned phonetician and English language expert conducted a two day seminar for the staff and students on 11th and 12th May 2005.
The seminar was organized by Mr. M.S Bedi, the Principal cum Director of the Academy. He introduced Col. J.M.S Hatter as an outstanding phonetician and language expert. In his introductory remarks he said that teachers must acquire the standard pronunciation so that the students could learn from them.
Being an expert in Phonetics, Col. J.M.S Hatter explained as to how each vowel, consonant and diphthong is to be pronounced. He explained in very clear terms the specific rules of pronunciation and pointed out the exceptions to them.
He illustrated the articulation of every sound with a variety of example words. He laid great emphasis on using the dictionary as a definitive guide for the pronunciation of each word. The ‘Right Sound’, the right accent and ‘Standard Pronunciation’ were the key ideas of his seminar. To illustrate the specific characteristic of each sound, he compared and contrasted it with the corresponding sound in Hindi and Punjabi. “Speak English as the native speakers of English Language do”. That was his message. The seminar was made interesting and lively by Col. J.M.S Hatter’s characteristic humour and down to earth examples.
The seminar was a real learning experience both for staff and students.

Academy celebrates Her Holiness Biji's Birthday
The Academy celebrated the Birthday of its Patron, H.H Biji on 10th March 2005 . The campus brimmed over with the joy of the celebrations.
The day's major event was the opening of an extension O.P.D of the Charitable Hospital run by the Unity of Man under the spiritual leadership of H.H Biji. The OPD is intended to be a charitable venture to benefit the poor of the neighboring villages. Biji, known for her compassion for the poor and the suffering, presented tricycles to 25 handicapped adults who needed them to make their lives a little more comfortable. At 11:00 a.m. a reception was held in the guest house to felicitate H.H Biji. Hundreds of members of the Unity of Man and the staff of the academy joined the reception. There was an effusion of love and reverence for Biji during the reception. In her response she articulated the ideals of the mission and urged all those present to imbibe the values of the mission.
The Academy programme to felicitate Biji started at 6:00 p.m. The entire KSA family, members of the Unity of Man and a large number of Foreign Guests were present at the function. Mr. M.S Bedi, the Director welcomed the guests and greeted H.H Biji on behalf of the school. He said that the greatest gift to Biji would be developing the school to international levels of all-round excellence. Dr. Augustine Isaac, in his speech outlined her greatness in four pithy statements: She transformed and transfigured the world she received; she loved with all her heart and mind the world she was born into; she united a fragmented world; she speaks the words of redemptive truth to all who come. He said, “Generations shall call her blessed”.
The Director, the Principal, the Vice Principal and the Headmistress offered bouquets to H.H Biji on behalf of the school. The academy staff presented her a gift as a symbol of their love for her.
As a mark of love and respect for Biji, the students put up a large number of cultural items characterized by exquisite grace and commendable perfection. 53 students were awarded trophies for excellent performance in co-curricular activities conducted during the academic year. The Director declared Upjeet Singh of Class XII as the Best Student of the year for his excellence in studies, in co-curricular activities and in behavior.
H.H Biji exhorted all to develop the school to higher levels of excellence in academics and in discipline. Mrs. Margaret Augustine, the Headmistress proposed the Vote of Thanks and the celebrations came to a close at 8:30 p.m. The Cultural Programme was followed by a sumptuous dinner for all present. It was a memorable day for the whole KSA family.

Appoints M.S. Bedi as Principal cum Director
Kirpal Sagar Academy a reputed English Medium, Co-Educational Residential School affiliated to CBSE situated near Rahon has appointed Mr. Manjitinder Singh Bedi as the Director of the Academy. Born in 1953. Mr. Bedi is a product of the PPS Nabha, a premier residential Public School of North India. After completing his B.A. (HONS) and M.A. (History) from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, Mr. Bedi started his
career as a teacher from the premier Public School, the Scindia School Gwalior.
During his 18 years at the Scindia School he was the HOD of History, a House-Master, Master-in-Charge games and
organizing secretary for the IPSC games & Sports. He excelled both as a highly effective teacher and an illustrious Housemaster.
After a stint of 2 years as the Principal cum Director of the GRD Academy at Dehradun. Mr. Bedi was selected to head the Punjab Public School, Nabha. In his tenure of five year he was able to put PPS in top bracket with the other leading Public Schools of the country.
A man of impressive stature he is gifted with
oratorical skills of high order. He has proved to be a great educationist, perfectionist and an administrator wherever he worked.
The management of Kirpal Sagar Academy takes pride in appointing his as Director and is convinced that his experience and expertise will take the Academy to higher levels of all round progress and development.

Seminar on
“PRINCIPLES OF COMMUNICATION”
A Seminar on “Principles of Communication” was organized on May 6 th , 2004 in the Assembly hall of the Academy.
Her Holiness Beeji, Dr. Karamjit Singh, Chairman, Mrs. Parminder, and Mr. Hannes Fuchs graced the occasion with their presence. The students XI and XII were the participants. Mr. Upjeet Singh of XII compeered the programme. Ms. Jasmin Fuchs of XI was the first speaker and presented a brief history of the communication Revolution.
The student speakers of the Seminar spoke on the different aspects of the subject with commendable expertise and confidence. Visual aids were used quite effectively to explain the concepts and process. The students who spoke were:

The Seminar was organized under the expert guidance of Mr. Onkar Chand Sharma of Physics Department. The high level performance by the students was the result of the hard work and expertise provided by Mr. Onkar Chand.
Professor Wadhawan and Principal in their concluding remarks congratulated the students for their creditable performance. Dr. Karamjit Singh the Chairman, appreciated the performance of the students.
The Seminar was an enriching experience for all the participants.

Academy Celebrates
Patron's Day and Awards Day
The school celebrated the Patron's day and Awards day on 10 th March 2004. The entire school community along with the members of the Unity of man and foreign visitors gathered at 6 P.M. in the beautifully decorated open air auditorium to greet the Patron H.H. Biji.
The principal Dr. Augustine Isaac on behalf of the Academy greeted H.H. Biji on her birthday In his message of greetings he said “H.H. Biji's life has been a blessing to all of us. She transformed this marshy wasteland into a paradise of grace. She belongs not merely to Kirpal Sagar and India, but to all the nations of the world. Her message and life are not merely for today and tomorrow but for all future ages “because nothing dies in the realm of God”. Mr. Bir Devinder, Punjabi teacher also on behalf of staff and students offered his greetings to H.H. Biji. Students from different classes presented melodious group songs and colourful group dances in honor of Biji.
Nearly 200 students from different classes were awarded trophies and certificates for being winners in a variety of competitions organized during the year. Dr. Karamjit Singh, the Chairman and Mr. Hannes Fuch gave away the prizes to the students. The best all rounder award was given away to the Best student of each class . The gold medal for being selected as the best student of the year was won by SAROJ KUMARI of class XII. Satluj House won both the “The Best House Trophy” and “Shakespeare Challenge Trophy. H. H. Biji gave away the trophies.
 
The function was followed by a sumptuous community dinner in honor of H.H. Biji. The celebrations come to a close at 10 P.M.

NATIONAL LEVEL VOLLEYBALL
TOURNAMENT
In memory of Dr. Harbhajan Singh Ji Maharaj (Founder Chairman, Kirpal
Sagar) the Academy organized the 8th Inter-School National Level Volleyball
Tournament for Boys from 6th December to 8th December 2003. 20 teams from
the different parts of the country competed. The matches were played during
the day and in the night under flood lights.

14th ANNUAL DAY
CELEBRATIONS
The Academy celebrated
its 14th Annual Day on 14th November 2003. Dr. Ruppert Ortner Ph. D.,
Salzburg, Austria graced the occasion as its Chief guest. H. H. Surinder
Kaur the Patron and Dr. Karamjit Singh, the Chairman blessed the celebrations
by their presence and inspirational messages.
The Chairman in his address
to the Parents spoke about the vision of the Academy and Dr. Ruppert
said that KSA should be a model to all the Schools of the world. The
program came to a close at 3 pm. It was an aesthetic and enriching experience
to the entire audience.

SPECTRUM - 2003
Kirpal Sagar Academy celebrated SPECTRUM - 2003 with a magnificent
finale on October 11, 2003. Three Hundred students took part in the artistic
performances, which lasted for a week. The performances and competitions
included essay writing, painting, quiz and solo songs. The grand finale
was organized today with the three Hostels of the Academy putting up 30
minute long talent shows in a bid to win the BEST-HOSTEL-TROPHY and MOST-TALENTED-HOSTEL-TROPHY.
The
weeklong celebrations proved to be a splendid display of the talents of
the students. Senior Boys Hostel won the BEST-HOSTEL-TROPHY and the Girls
Hostel was adjudged the MOST-TALENTED-HOSTEL. The Junior Hostel for Boys
was awarded an additional BEST-HOSTEL-TROPHY for overall excellence.
Beyond
it all, it was the academy's celebration of its unity. Dr. Karamjit Singh,
the Chairman presided over the functions and Mrs. Angela, Chairman's wife
gave away the prizes to the winners. Miss Jagroop Kaur, Miss Romi
Verma,
Miss Lovleen Kaur, Miss Neetu Kinger and Mrs Leelamma and Mr. Manu Verma
played pivotal roles in making the events a great success. The program
was visualized and planned by the Headmistress Mrs. Margaret Augustine,
Dr. Augustine Isaac, Principal of Academy congratulated all the staff
and students for their contributions to the success of the celebrations.
